Terms of use

Terms

By using sunhour (the "Service") you agree to these terms. They are written to be readable rather than impressive. Last updated: June 2026.

1. The service

sunhour is a free informational tool that calculates astronomical times — sunrise, sunset, golden hour, blue hour, twilight, solar position, moon phase, moonrise and moonset — for any place on Earth, using the NOAA Solar Position Algorithm for the sun and Meeus / Conway approximations for the moon.

2. Accuracy disclaimer

Astronomical times are typically accurate to within one minute for any year between 1900 and 2100. However:

The Service is therefore not suitable for legally binding navigation, surveying, religious observance with strict timing requirements (Salat, fasting, prayer windows), aviation, maritime operations, or anything where being off by a minute matters. Always cross-check critical times against a primary authoritative source such as the U.S. Naval Observatory or a national meteorological service.

3. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind — express, implied, statutory, or otherwise — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. The operator does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.

4. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from your use of the Service — including, without limitation, missed sunsets, ruined photo shoots, missed flights, fasting or prayer schedules that turn out to be a few seconds off, lost data, or business interruption.

5. Acceptable use

6. Intellectual property

The sunhour name, brand, design, copy, and original blog content are © 2026 Info Media. The underlying astronomical algorithms are public domain. City data is hand-curated from open sources (Wikipedia, GeoNames). You may quote short excerpts (one or two sentences) of blog posts with attribution and a link back. Full reproduction requires written permission.

7. Advertising disclosure

This site displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. The operator does not directly control which specific ads are shown, but does configure category-level blocks. If you encounter an ad that violates Google's policies, you can report it using the "Why this ad?" / "Stop seeing this ad" controls present in every AdSense unit, or contact Google's AdSense support.

8. Third-party links

The blog and tool pages may link to third-party websites (NOAA, Wikipedia, manufacturer pages, etc.). The operator does not endorse and is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of those sites.

9. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our privacy policy and cookie policy.

10. Changes

These terms may be updated periodically. Material changes will be noted in the "last updated" date and, where significant, called out on the home page for at least 14 days. Continued use after a change indicates acceptance.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Italy. Disputes will be brought before the courts of Milan, except where mandatory consumer-protection law of the user's country of residence applies.

12. Contact
